Happy Birthday, Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan turns 70 today so I thought I send him, indirectly, a small remembrance. Here's one I hope he will like: Gram Parsons with Emmylou Harris performing In My Hour of Darkness from Gram's last album, Grievous Angel (1974).

Happy Birthday Bob -- many happy returns of the day!

Well, I onced encountered a Bob Dylan song that didn't fit my impression of what Bob Dylan and even in my disappointment I smiled, laughed and said to myself "he can do whatever he wants HE IS BOB DYLAN!"

Hurricane Carter is a free man because Bob Dylan decided he would pick up the cause and if you listen to the song he states very clearly who abused the justice system to convict him.

Bob Dylan has influenced my entire life from the first time(probably 5 or 6 years old) I heard "Blowin in the Wind" to when I stumbled into "Jokerman" on AOL radio a few years ago, to celebrating his birthday with "Tangled Up in Blue."

And he, like many other artists I have experienced, created a piece of life experience I could never replace with anything in this universe. Thanks Bob.

from "Hurricane" (1975, track written by Bob Dylan and Jacques Levy)

".... And the newspapers they
all went along for the ride
How can the life of such a man
Be in the palm of some fool's hand ?
To see him obviously framed
Couldn't help but make me feel ashamed to live in a land
Where justice is a game. ..."
